Indo-Pacific Advisory (IPA) is delighted to announce the addition of Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, PhD, to its esteemed circle of strategic advisors. This announcement coincides with India’s 76th Republic Day—an occasion that underscores Gen Chauhan’s lifelong commitment to national service and security.


Over the course of four decades, Gen. Chauhan’s decorated military career has spanned high-profile command positions such as leading the 8 Mountain Division in Ladakh and India’s oldest Strike Corps. His tenure as Director General of Assam Rifles was marked by bolstered security and governance in the North East, followed by his pivotal role as Chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group, where he successfully brought the NSCN(K) back to the negotiating table.


A strategic thinker and scholar, Gen. Chauhan holds a PhD for his research on India-Nepal relations and is the author of the widely acclaimed book Bridging Borders. He has represented India as a Defense Attaché and contributed to policy formulation at the highest levels within the Ministry of Defence. His current focus centers on preparing the Indian Army for multidomain warfare by 2030.
